In 8th grade, I had a teacher, Mrs. Weatherspoon, (may have been Witherspoon). She was one of those teachers students absolutely adored, or abhorred ~ there was no in between. Most people’s first memory to come to mind of her would be that we could eat in her class, but we couldn’t eat peach jolly ranchers. Two things are forefront in my mind before the jolly ranchers - she was so encouraging for me to go to college - she gave me a book of colleges in the US and would send out for info on schools I was interested in. She even connected me with her daughter to hear all about Duke. However, the most poignant was the assignment where we had to create our “Bucket List” of things we’d like to accomplish as an adult - I was in a weird musical phase and was obsessed with Fleetwood Mac, my #3 item on the list was to see “Landslide” and/or “Sara,” live in concert. I was able to check off #3 tonight - Landslide was the last song played during the encore. I was so completely overcome with emotion - the slideshow of Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie - wow. Thank you VetTix!! Making dreams come true, one ticket at a time!
