Veteran Tickets Foundation Purchases and St. Louis Cardinals - MLB
I would like to thank the St. Louis Cardinals-MLB for showing me and my sons that the organization as a whole needs fixed! I got tickets for their birthday on Vettix.org and since I don't require ADA seating for myself (wheelchair) I didn't even think that was anything I needed to do because I have attended events with my disabled son that has a wheelchair and any other venue has openly and happily accommodated seating for all of my family that attended. On June 6th (his birthday) I got tickets to celebrate his and his older brothers birthday because they share a birthday and we got to the game and we were excited to be there. We talked to a seating attendant about his seating accommodations and where our tickets were. They wanted to help us and were very polite. We had to go back to the ticket office and talk to them about what we were wanting due to his wheelchair restrictions and since I only paid the transfer fee for the tickets they wanted me to pay $170 difference to sit in those seats. Not giving any credit for the seat value of the seats that were donated. Needless to say I didn't feel like that was right and feel like as a disabled veteran it made me feel like my value and his didn't mean anything! So we sat in the donated seats and had his wheelchair stored but it wasn't as comfortable for any of us during the game. I would like to point out that the ADA seats in our section were vacant a but 2 the entire game so we should have been able to sit there the entire game He has to be attended to the entire time because he likes to wiggle around and isn't in appropriate seating to keep him safe when not in his wheelchair. I'm not disappointed in the employees who were just doing their jobs but as the organization and any organization as a whole that would not work to accommodate any guests that needed such. I know that my son doesn't know he was discriminated against but I absolutely do! I hope that the St. Louis Cardinals organization and any other organization as a whole can fix this so it doesn't happen to him or anyone else in that situation again. I hope that any and all organizations that have the opportunity to make accommodations for people who have disabilities especially walking the comfort and convenience of sitting where they need so they can be as comfortable as possible to enjoy their experience.
