Alanis Morissette - The Triple Moon Tour with Special Guests Joan Jett & the Blackhearts and Morgan Wade A traffic jam when you’re already late… It took us nearly 2 hours before arriving at the Xfinity Center due to heavy traffic so we completely missed Morgan Wade who had just finished her set as we entered the venue. It would’ve been nice to see her perform but unfortunately, I don’t have much to report other than the fact that she is one of Nashville’s fastest rising Country music stars. Still rockin’ at 65, Joan Jett is best known for her work as the frontwoman of her band the Blackhearts. It was their cover of the song, “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” (The Arrows), which propelled them into stardom. Along with that hit, they performed other covers that included “Cherry Bomb” (The Runaways), “Do You Wanna Touch Me” (Gary Glitter), “Everyday People” (Sly & the Family Stone) and “Crimson & Clover” (Tommy James & the Shondells), just to name a few. They also played their hits “Fake Friends”, “I Hate Myself for Loving You”, “Bad Reputation” and their latest single “If You’re Blue”. “Jagged Little Pill” was one of the first CDs I bought as I was rebuilding my music collection after having hundreds of CDs stolen out of my VW on a trip to NYC’s the Limelight club (IYKYK). I must’ve really liked it because I somehow wound up with 2 copies of that album. Alanis pretty much performed that album in its entirety. She opened with an incredible version of “Hand in My Pocket” which had the crowd singing along in a frenzy and it was like that for the rest of the show. Morissette’s vocals with her singing style of cry breaks and yodels were amazing and they particularly stood out during her performance of “Perfect”. She really did have her fans on their feet the whole time and believe me I know because my battered knees had a hard time staying up that long in order for a clear view of her performance. Thank You Live Nation for the generous donation to yet another great show and Vet Tix for making the opportunity available. My daughter and I had a fantastic time.
