The Phoenix Symphony
Thank you, Phoenix Symphony. Stravinsky's Firebird and Debussy's Prelude a "L'après-midi d'un faune" were the second part of the concert, with a transitional piece - the "Mystery Piece," "Feu d'Artifice," by Stravinsky. All 3 were beautifully performed. The high drama evidenced by the crescendos of the orchestra during Firebird, were well done. I have been listening to recordings of this piece for at least 50 years. Wonderful to see and hear it in person. The first part of the concert, in performance of Kevin Puts composition, "Contact," with Time for Three, downstage from the orchestra and conductor, was phenomenal. TF3 are amazing and their performances, interwoven with orchestra, were extraordinarily beautiful, given that this is a contemporary piece unfamiliar to me. Wow! When TF3 did "Stand by Me," that closed the first half. What a concert! I had a very good seat in Section B, 10 rows from the stage. What a pleasure to spend my Friday evening, experiencing spectacular music and performances by Phoenix Symphony and TF3. Thank you, again, to Phoenix Symphony!
