Thank you, Vet Tix, Major League Baseball, Chase Field, Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, the Police, Security, vendors, and your great staffs for a fun afternoon. Chase Field is a fantastic stadium. We had awesome seats in Section 301, Row 18 in right field overlooking the entire field. The roof was open, and the atmosphere was a little breezy until the sun swung around. Then, it got hot. The variety of food and beverages inside the stadium was a bonus. My friends and I chowed down on a number of vittles. We were so hungry. Yum yum! The National Anthem was performed by a local preschool. The little tikes were so cute. Bobby Freeman played the organ throughout the game, and then he led the fans through the 7th Inning Stretch. This was opening week! Yahoo! Baseball is back! During the game, there were plenty of family activities and festivities, and people and groups were honored, such as: Hot Dog Derby (Relish won); 2nd Base Steal; Stone Cold Recipients and Birthday Wishes; Celebration Messages; Fan Cams; Cox Legends Race (Mark Grace, Matt Williams, Randy Johnson, and Luis Gonzalez; Matty won); Budweiser Cheers to Our Heros (military and first responders); D-backs Hat Shuffle, D-backs 50/50 Charity Raffle (over $61,000 split two ways), etc. The Cubs struck first by scoring a single run homer Center Field at the top of the 2nd inning. They followed that one by a two runner in the 6th that landed in the pool. The D-backs scored one run in the 6th and 7th. The Cubs came back with a three run homer in the 8th, and the D-backs got two off a two run homer in the 8th. This was followed by some walks, multiple doubles, and a single that drove in six more runs. The Cubs threatened in the top of the 9th, but no dice. What was pretty much a boring game became one of the most exciting come-from-behind, eight-runs-in-the-8th, rally wins for the D-backs; 10 to 6. The fans went wild. Woo hoo! It was nice to see Dansby Swanson, shortstop with the Cubs. I remember him from our days in Oregon when he played for the Hillsboro Hops, the seed team for the D-backs. I'm glad he made it to the show! By the way, he hit the homer in the 2nd. Again, thank you, Vet Tix, Major League Baseball, Chase Field, Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, the Police, Security, vendors, promoters, coordinators, and your stupendous teams for making so many people happy. We, active military personnel, veterans, first responders, our families and friends, truly appreciate all you do for us, our communities, and our blessed nation! You rock! Sincerely, Chuck
