Butch Hogan is a 100% Permanent and Total (P&T) disabled veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1985 to 1995, including during the Persian Gulf War era. During his military career, he served in two occupational specialties: Ammunition Supply Specialist (55B) and Medical Supply Specialist (76J). His assignments took him across the United States and overseas, including Fort Dix, New Jersey; Redstone Arsenal, Alabama; Friedberg, Germany; Fort Hood, Texas, with the 1st Cavalry Division; Fort Sam Houston, Texas; and Fort Lewis, Washington, with the 7th Infantry Division, 9th Infantry Regiment.

While serving in the Army, Butch attended the U.S. Army Academy of Health Sciences at Fort Sam Houston, where he earned the distinction of Honor Graduate in his Medical Supply Specialist training. He also pursued higher education in Computer Science at the University of Kansas School of Engineering, building on a lifelong interest in technology, engineering, and problem-solving.

Before co-founding the Veteran Tickets Foundation, Butch was an established technology entrepreneur and business leader, having founded and led multiple companies as Chief Executive Officer. In the earliest days of Vet Tix, when the organization's future was far from certain, his belief in its mission inspired him to spend countless evenings in his home office personally designing and developing the proprietary software platform that would become the foundation of the organization. Rather than relying on existing software frameworks or commercial solutions, he architected and built the system entirely from the ground up, serving as its sole software developer for the organization's first eight years while continuing to operate his other businesses.

As Vet Tix grew, so did the technology behind it. Under Butch's guidance, the Vet Tix software platform has evolved into a sophisticated enterprise platform supporting ticket distribution, partner integrations, and the organization's daily operations nationwide. As Chief Technology Officer, Butch has guided the platform through years of technological change, expanding its capabilities and infrastructure while building and leading the engineering team that continues to advance the organization's mission.

Butch's military service also left a lasting personal impact. As a result of service-connected cancer attributed to chemical exposure during his Army service, he underwent the complete removal of one kidney and partial removal of the other. The Department of Veterans Affairs has recognized his disabilities with a 100% Permanent and Total (P&T) service-connected disability rating. His experience gives him a deeply personal understanding of the sacrifices made by those who serve, including the challenges that can continue long after military service ends.

Raised in a deeply patriotic family, Butch grew up with the belief that service to country and community was not simply an obligation, but a way of life. His family's tradition of service spans generations and includes members of the Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy, as well as law enforcement and fire services.

His grandfather served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. His brother, Shane, also served in the U.S. Army, with their careers overlapping at several duty stations. Shane's service included both the first and second Gulf Wars.

That tradition continues through the next generation. Butch's son, James, is a U.S. Air Force combat veteran whose service included Afghanistan, Korea, Japan, and multiple assignments throughout the United States. Two of Butch's nephews also serve in the U.S. Marine Corps.

The family's commitment to service has also brought profound sacrifice. Butch's cousin, Steve Hogan, a Marine Corps veteran, lost his only son, Marine Hunter H.D. Hogan, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on June 23, 2012. In Hunter's honor, Vet Tix established a program providing free ticket delivery to the primary next of kin of fallen service members.

As Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of the Veteran Tickets Foundation, Butch combines his military experience, entrepreneurial background, and technical expertise with a lifelong commitment to those who serve. Through Vet Tix and 1st Tix, he continues to help advance a mission dedicated to honoring military members, veterans, first responders, and their families by creating opportunities for connection, community, and lasting memories.
